Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has awarded an $800 grant to Coffee Creek Quilters. The funds are earmarked for classroom supplies: quilt batting, replacement rotary cutter blades, blender fabrics, needles, and thread. In addition to the grant, Thrivent is auctioning a CCQ instructor-made quilt with the proceeds going to our organization. Thrivent is a member-owned fraternal benefit society that makes grants to organizations and activities that strengthen families and communities. We’re so grateful for Thrivent’s support. Thank you!
CCQ auctioned a quilt with Oregon Ducks-themed fabrics as a fundraiser for our program. The quilt was expertly pieced by CCQ instructor Betty DeHaven shown holding the quilt along with instructor Linnette Talney. The quilting, by volunteer longarm quilter Kathy Morrison, carries out the sports theme with balls — footballs, baseballs, basketballs, volleyballs, and more. The auction ended on October 31, 2012, raising $250 for CCQ.
Bolt, a NE Portland shop specializing in modern quilt fabrics, is holding a fabric drive for CCQ. The drive ends September 30th, so hurry over to their shop with your unwanted quilting cottons. Bolt is located at 2136 NE Alberta Street, Portland. Here’s a link to their website with more information about the fabric drive. Bolt has been a big supporter of our program. Last year the shop included us in their “Organization of the Month” series of fundraisers and donated a portion of proceeds from a special sale to our program.
