Thrivent awards grant to CCQ

Bobbins

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has awarded an $800 grant to Coffee Creek Quilters. The funds are earmarked for classroom supplies: quilt batting, replacement rotary cutter blades, blender fabrics, needles, and thread. In addition to the grant, Thrivent is auctioning a CCQ instructor-made quilt with the proceeds going to our organization. Thrivent is a member-owned fraternal benefit society that makes grants to organizations and activities that strengthen families and communities. We’re so grateful for Thrivent’s support. Thank you!

The quilt was expertly pieced by CCQ instructor Betty DeHaven shown holding the quilt along with instructor Linnette Talney. The quilting, by volunteer longarm quilter Kathy Morrison, carries out the sports theme with balls — footballs, baseballs, basketballs, volleyballs, and more. The auction ended on October 31, 2012, raising $250 for CCQ.
