We also have two designated donation opportunities:
Sponsor a Quilter for a Year: $150
You can sponsor a quilter for an entire year. The sponsorship covers the cost of the high-quality fabric, supplies, notions, tools (such as thread, quilt batting and replacement blades for rotary cutters) and sewing machine maintenance needed to continue our program.
Sponsor a Graduate Quilter Release Kit: $250
One of the most crucial times for our students is when they are released from Coffee Creek, and — in many cases — confront an uncertain future. Women who have successfully completed all three quilts and are being released are eligible to receive a quilting kit of tools and supplies, so they can continue to use their newly acquired quilting skills as they find their way in the outside world. Each kit includes a donated and serviced sewing machine, cutting mat, rotary cutter, basic notions, and the fabric and batting needed to complete a quilt.
Earn donations for CCQ with Fred Meyer Rewards
You can help Coffee Creek Quilters earn donations by shopping at your local Fred Meyer store. Fred Meyer is donating money to nonprofits based on customers who link their rewards card to their favorite nonprofit. This does not affect your personal rewards points; both accounts earn points. It’s a win-win for you and for CCQ. We invite you to learn how to sign up.
Can you donate supplies or equipment?
If you are a company that makes or distributes quilting supplies, a quilt shop or guild, or an individual with excess quilting stuff and would like to support our program with a donation, please contact us for information on what materials and tools would be of use. Some items we can use include:
- 100% cotton quilting weight fabric (no poly blends, please)
- 100% cotton pre-cut fabric such as fat quarters, jelly rolls, layer cakes, etc.
- Quilt kits, panels, and patterns
- Quilting books less than ten years old
- Cotton or 80/20 cotton/polyester batting, minimum size 60 by 80 inches
- Rotary cutters; cutting mats; thread, scissors, pins, needles and other quilting notions
- Portable sewing machines in good working condition
Please do not drop materials off at the prison. Contact us and we will work with you to arrange for pick-up if possible.
We are unable to accept the following items and kindly ask that you save them for an organization that can put them to good use:
- Non-cotton fabric
- Hand quilting frames
- Sewing tables
- Quilting Magazines
- Quilting books more than ten years old
We direct all donations either to the classroom or to our annual sale, which supports the program with funds for items we do not receive as donations.
Are you a long-arm quilter?
You are needed to quilt our students’ third quilts. These are typically 60 x 80 in size. We provide the batting, deliver and pick up the quilts, and pay for the cost of thread.
Coffee Creek Quilters is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) corporation, so your donations are 100 percent tax deductible. Our tax ID is: 37-1456243. If you have any questions about making a donation, please contact us.
