An auction held by the Columbia FiberArts Guild on September 7th raised $3814 for Coffee Creek Quilters. CFG has sponsored an auction to benefit CCQ for many years. One of our first instructors, Marjorie Post, started the auction when she was Outreach Chair for the Guild. It has grown over the years from an event that sold a few items to one where hundreds of items are sold.
This year’s auction was designed to be leaner and more focused than previous years. Members could bid on nine beautiful gift baskets filled and donated by Guild members, a number of ‘virtual’ items such as workshops, time at a vacation home, a French dinner, and beautiful handmade items. There were also pre-packaged bags of notions, embellishments and fabric that sold for $5 each. A guest of one of the Guild members from New Zealand even donated $40 after hearing about our program.
CCQ Members Sandy Scarr, Jennifer Rhyne, Rhonda Shoop, Deb Sorem, Gloria Richardson, Mary Ann McCammon and Cathy Gleeson staffed the auction. Deb Micallef donated coffee to go along with member-made cookies.
Columbia FiberArts Guild is a group of fiber artists from Oregon and Southwest Washington. We are most grateful to Guild members for their ongoing support. Please visit the CFG website for more information about this organization.
